May 7
To guard his promise,
He waited for her return,
days melted into months,
and months into years.
He came -
every evening -
still waiting.

Some days,
he stood sleepless and sick,
but with a boundless hope
burning in his heart.
Only to endure
the news of her death.

Yet the next day,
he waited, again, because
he knew,
she'd never break the vow.
