The thoughts were steady coming
in heavy rotation, weighing immensely
in my head, in the deep tunnels
of my subconsciousness, trying to run
away from your toxic love, but there
was something about you that kept me
craving you when I could’ve done better
without you.  You were my first love,
the one that took me into your arms
and calmed the raging tornadoes reverberating
within me.  Who knew that you would be
the one who would create the most devastating
heartbreak in my life, leaving me utterly empty inside.
