utter softly to yourself,
with your little hand tucked
inside the corner of your
chin, as you make small
etchings in dark blue
ink? oh you are
so meticulous in your

            but won’t you take
                      a look outside?

your plans,
strung out on
a clothesline,
waiting to be
struck down
by either you

or the April wind.
