Shadows pool around you as if a part of your soul
They wrap around your body and hold fast
Falling to your knees, you cry out in confusion
“Please, don’t let these shadows last”

Thin streams of light shine through the darkness
A savior, your rescue, a friend?
You reach out to touch them, pull them to you
However, they quickly slip right out of your hands

You kneel shivering in the icy cold the pools have delivered
Still reaching for the thin streams of light
While fighting your way to find relief from the darkness
That has taken the breath from your life

A strong gust of wind suddenly blows from your spirit
Quickly chasing the dark shadows away
As you stand up in full armor, triumphantly free
Of the shadows that darkened your day
