Retreated and Consumed
the exaggerated shame
I fight to release as I continue to contain

When I was not ready
I threw away my comic books
I threw away my heroes
and their villains,
my long shorts and wide shirts

I grew with tall shoes and straight pants
restless dresses and painted faces
weighted words turned to rants
and superior clothing filled my hero's closet spaces
