Deathless is your beauty, evermore
Boundless than the sea between the shore.
Nothing near your likeness have I ever come to know,
A beauty deathless as a precious stone.

Though no diamond and no amethyst
Has yet to cross my sight I can’t resist.
But I would spend my final breath and even sell my soul
If it bought me you for me to hold.

But I’m afraid it’s much too great a cost
When all required to desire's lost.
And for me to sit and wait in faith with bated breath
Won't bring me you but only certain death.

For deathless as your beauty seems to be,
It is not deathless in reality.
Every flower’s powerless when faced with history,
Deathless only within memory.
A song about fair youth
