I shy away
in clouds of self-reflection
that cast shadows over
human nature's clarity.

Reversing a cocoon
my fragile organs, exposed- hang
To display their veiny
functions and dysfunctions.

Transfixed on a cellular level
I am complicated. I am mechanical.
Repeat routines and manage my capital.
Resistance faces dreams that are radical.

Auto-immune to my own feelings
or thoughts- I reject myself.
And neglect the wonder of
just being alive.
