telephone poles
are oddly
beautiful

oak trophies
relaying love and loss
hope and hate

watchguards over
eternity

the posts extending
our hearts

on a stick
like a kebab

they are always
there

maybe that’s
what
makes them
glisten so
on the brilliant
radiant
summer days

that you feel
certain
everything
has a purpose
in this life

including those
protruding pieces
of weathered wood
