Here you stand.
Solid,
Stable,
Flexible.
Feet planted,
On the dead grass.
Sea breeze,
Whipping your hair.
Filling your nose with salt.
You sit,
Facing the ocean,
Deep, dark,
Sadness.
Overwhelming.
But a hand on your shoulder,
And you turn,
And there is the sun,
Sending the darkness deep down.
And you squint,
And you smile,
For the first time in a while.
As you lie on their lap,
As they stroke your hair,
And you feel safe,
Not alone,
For the first time,
In a long time.
Sorry I’ve been away for so long.
