Here you stand.
Feet planted,
On the dead grass.
Sea breeze,
Whipping your hair.
Filling your nose with salt.
You sit,
Facing the ocean,
Deep, dark,
But a hand on your shoulder,
And you turn,
And there is the sun,
Sending the darkness deep down.
And you squint,
And you smile,
For the first time in a while.
As you lie on their lap,
As they stroke your hair,
And you feel safe,
Not alone,
For the first time,
In a long time.
Sorry I’ve been away for so long.
