I lay in that dream like state
Half awake with reality;
Half asleep with sweet dreams.
I feel you still beside me.
Your smooth cool skin,
Soft as rose petals,
Touches mine.
With your warmth at my back
I feel your gentle breath against my neck.
Smiling, I roll over.
Discovering a pillow at my back,
With a gentle breeze from the window,
Lightly playing over me.
I wake fully.
A sadness touches my heart.
Just as a smile grows on my face.
For even though my dream
Has proven to be mundane,
Your presence is always with me.
An ever present joy
That I cherish with my very being.
