When I close my eyes,
I can breathe,
real breaths,
as I inhale the scent of home,
warm and joyful,
and exhale out the bad things
that's happened today

When I close my eyes,
I'm still alone
standing by myself,
no one beside me,
yet I'm not lonely,
and I stand
proud

When I close my eyes,
I can be anything,
to the North Wind,
alive and blowing,
touching people's cheeks,
numbing them out
to the green grass,
cheerful,
and happy
growing tall,

When I close my eyes,
I can escape,
this prison called life,
and be free

But then I open them again,
and I'm still just
me
