Part Time Jesus
You keep banking on the blessing
As you make your way
Through the blessed assurance
You're hoping for each day
You stop short in your wonder
As you wonder this
Do your hip boots have a hole
Knee deep in your sin
You love you some Jesus
But only part of time
You take the call from fall for it all
Living by dim light
Moving to the motions
Of the every day to day
Seasick on the ocean
Another clueless castaway
Bobbing to the concept
Of the sink or swim
Up and down with flailing arms
You go down time and again
Battles are a burden
Thrown wide in this life
That wouldn't be such a worryΒ Β
If you didn't love Jesus part of the time
Special occasions you're saving
Him in a shiny box
Occasionally opening up
When you pray for luck
Still, you're in no hurry
You feel time is on your side
As you hustle in your bustle
He barely comes to mind
Taking your time, you're feeling fine
In the wasting of your dime
You love you some Jesus
But only part of the time
