In my younger days I used to play
The as I do not as I say game
When all I did seemed to come out wrong

I would often hang the fool in me
Out for all the world to see
But thankfully those days are mostly gone

Although they still pop in and out
From time to time to give a shout
I think mostly to see what's going on

And to keep me on my toes
Letting me know that it knows
In a heartbeat I could sell my soul out for a song

Thinking that I've got this licked
While the fool in me bites at the bit
Hello, is there anybody home

With nothing left for me to prove
I'm just one step at back to fool
Back in the thick of it before I know

Adding to my history
Another bent of fool in me
All I need for this to be is to leave open the door
