Stripped
Grizzled
Bark worn
Root rotted
Limbs sagged
Infested
Unsafe
Once a dream home
Once a beacon
Once a symbol
Of strength
Of potential
Of freedom
To climb out of an earthly condition
Now home to snakes
For greed
For fire
To burn for the few
American tinder
Patriotism sold.
