The house of Mimi is welcoming
She makes him feel at home
A warm fire, empathy
Cinnamon tea and scones
He’s not alone on Valentines Day
At least he’s got her
Both in the same situation
Each nursing the hurt
That comes from a romance gone south
From a dream that turned into a lie
Two broken hearts on the mend
Seeking shelter in a darkening sky
Love when it works is a fairy tale
Satisfying, a high
But it can be a gang of sadness
When it goes awry
So they commiserate
Laugh at their misfortune
Maybe hug and cry
The hue in the room is not always gloom
Sometimes it glows with a gentle light
