For best effect, the following piece should be read/sung to the rhythm of the lines “With cat-like tread, Upon our prey we steal” from “With cat-like tread” in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance:

With cat-like tread,
Upon a hot tin roof,
Crossing the road,
To see the other side.

No sound at all,
Not even from a mouse,
Searching about,
Without a periscope.

But infrared,
Within our night-time scopes,
Eyeing the wolf,
Howling up to the moon.

Not made of cheese,
But maybe one will see,
The smiling face,
Of Maggie my own cow.

You did not know,
That I once had a cow,
But then she went,
And jumped up on the moon!
