Nov 2018
21 comes swiftly on frosty wheels
Round and shiny, she floats
She laughs and stumbles
She cleans up nice for the pictures
She sits alone and nurses a beer
Just to see what it feels like
And she likes it
Nothing has changed
She comes on a Wednesday
The would-be revelers are busy
So she lies in wait
For the weekend
21 is: new socks and gummy bears
21 is: pretending not to want a big party
21 is: making a list
Of everyone that forgets her
And tucking it away
To reference when she’s down
And give herself a kick

21 is a little selfish
But so were 1-20
And so too will be 22+
I'll be 21 soon
