If you should fade away,
please do so, sometime soon,
perhaps tomorrow
or the next day.
Find yourself lined in time's
passages where the future rests,
woven into the moments that
are to come.
I could not ask for more,
no more than today's present moments,
no more than your smile
for a fleeting minute.
If you should go,
please, do not tarry too long,
run into the next day,
leave me to the moments past,
stuck in present times
where you have settled
and stayed,
I'll not ask for more, no,
no more than
today.
And I will pray, pray that tomorrow is always a day away.
