When love was very special
Because it was brand new
That’s when I first realized
I was in love with you
When it was everything
That I wanted or I needed
You happened to me
And I could not believe it

When love had, me stung out
Like a ***** with a drug
You could make me melt
With as little as a hug
When I was feeling helpless
As a kitten up a tree
You were like a fireman
Coming to rescue me

When love was slowly leaving
Heading towards the door
I wondered what life would be like
Without you anymore
I could hardly contemplate
What would lie in store
But I knew the reality
Would be hard to ignore

When love turned into misery
And I felt its pain
After what it did to me
I couldn’t explain
Why I was still in love with you
But I was just the same
And so I go to bed at night
With your name on my brain
