“Sweethearts”

Imagine thinking you have it all figured out,
naive to what love is really about.
Holding hands through the halls,
Pictures of you two together on the walls.

I remember I burned CDs for you,
ditched my friends just to be with you.

Voted, “most favorable couple to get married.”
If only we could’ve ditched the bags we carried.
Looking at those rings scared me,
I braved the thoughts cuz you were the one I’d marry.

I thought I found the one,
back when all you had to worry about was fun.
I knew once the fun was over, you’d be done,
Because every time it got too serious, you’d run.
