I had a heart then,
but then the Queen drowned in a tea cup,
overflowing with complacency.
It’s delicate porcelain shape
a study in the emotionless.
A Jack of hearts slipped in,
To steal it all away.
I don't know how many people watched SyFy's Alice in Wonderland, but the idea of emotions as a tea that you can drink really struck me. I love using it in writing poems.
