i can only hope,
that somewhere in an alternate universe,
i’m walking into a crowded concert
and seeing you for the first time
across the mass of people.
you’re moving closer to me,
your scent mixing
with the sweat and alcohol stench emitted by everyone around us,
your strong hand shaking mine,
and my ears hearing
your name for the first time.

i can only hope,
that somewhere in an alternative universe,
we are laughing
in the grocery store at midnight,
throwing junk food into the cart,
and holding hands
while we walk through the aisles.

i can only hope,
that somewhere in an alternative universe,
we are sleeping next to one another,
legs intertwining,
hearts beating together,
and love enveloping us together.

i can only hope,
that somewhere in an alternative universe,
we are still happy,
whole,
and forever in love.
