I made an assumption
Turned out to be true
Over my head floated puzzle pieces of you
I found out you cheated
Not just once but repeated
It took me months to sit
and snap together all the pieces
that would fit
And the picture on your puzzle box display
Was not of me to my dismay
But of someone I've seen before
Someone you've tasted
and asked for more
And as you groom yourself for their delight
As my gut tells me "I told you so,
I was right"
I know I'll be the last to smile
When it's their turn to put together all the pieces in that pile
