In wine is truth, but truth is sometimes hurtful.
If I hurt you, I never meant it so.
The road to Hell is paved with good intentions,
and what's said can't be unsaid - this I know.

It's best to tell the truth and shame the Devil.
What might have happened is non-history.
So seize the moment, say what needed saying.
In wine is truth,
and the truth shall set you free.
I had this in mind for years before I wrote it fully, having only the title and the first and last lines. It’s shorter than I had hoped, but it says what I wanted.
