There is no guide book for life
look as hard as you can,
a boy
grows into a man
and a girl
matures into a woman,

someone told me that
I didn't read it
though it might have assisted me
in my own growing maturity
to know the odds.

And then we reach a point where
the love of life is there, but
the time of our life is almost gone,

that point where we wanted to go on
when the mind was willing
and yet the thought of time killing us
halted us
in our tracks.

I have chosen to be frozen
just prior to the point
when my mind is a blank
like it's
a new passport to frank
and I thank my lucky stars
there is time to find all
those things
that books are written of.
