My life a book when all I needed was a page
stuck in a loathed place like a bird in a cage
tightly manacled by chains of dammed rage
suffocated and sweated for a meager wage
and walking on toes right along the edge
with my hopes loosely taped on a ledge
simply because I was born in a wrong age
