Sometimes when the crooked smiles are gone,
when the tangle of your hair is gripped in my fingers,
I pretend moments last forever.
I pretend the last time I dug a hole in my chest
promised someone all of my tomorrows
they didn’t take my yesterdays,
leave me with liver failure.
