They tease me relentlessly
then tell me I am beautiful
he tells me he has feelings for
some stranger he sees in me
but I've heard all his words before
and I wish for a moment
that perhaps if I was made from
more than emptiness
I could mean something
and my loneliness yearns
to make a home in his hands
and my heart cowers in fear
for the next time it will break
or the next time I will break
and they tease me relentlessly
and my words in defeat come
as salted sobbing in the night
for I've remembered again
just how replaceable I am

They tease her
and call her beautiful
