Sep 2016
Pieced together, weathered, worn
Is the individuals amidst the swarm
With no concerns to scrapes or burns
No lessons learned and too far gone

The teeth, the maw, a lion roams
As we withdraw, so far from home
We value metals, bricks, plastics
To distract from what's going on

Another done, another day
As our eyes focus on the display
Of phone, computers, tv screens
That thin out all our hopes and dreams

As we careen and bend and break
Our souls, half full, get no intake
And output that which molds and rusts
Ashes to ashes... dust in dusk
