Aug 2016
There's a hint of a chill already in the morning
The green walnut leaves yellow and curl
Dark thick clouds pass more often
And the waves are already bigger with angry white caps
Rich coffee steams plumes now that are seen like smelter stacks
You can almost feel the sway as the earth leans back from the sun
Maybey it's tired of all the heat this year and like a field worker seeks shade
Stoked fire pits can't keep back evening shivers
Winters never ever been held back no matter our plans
Seems this year as clouds pull together and the dew almost turns to frost
That the old man that brings the snow and fury
Is telling us he's coming early this year
