He tries desperately to forget her,
Jealous of those with amnesia.
Pleading with all that is holy,
Begging for an uninterrupted respite
From the relentless burden of pain.
But her memories are permanent.
They are etched in his brain
Like lovers' initials carved in an undying oak.
So he's constantly searching for a chainsaw
That he only finds at the bottom of a bottle.
