We’ve seen the kings and queens
in a thought or in a dream;
the better selves we wish to be
in silken cloaks of red and green.

They proudly stand against the sky,
without the doubt,
without the why,
while living breathing versions of us
are
merely
waiting
β€˜round
to
die.
