I've heard it said that I'm supposed to love my fellow man
Some people make that hard to do but I do the best I can
Some speak of the golden rule but stick it to their fellow man...
I love humanity but some people I can't stand

Congress has a real big smile for all us little folks
Why do they look so happy when I'm unemployed and broke
Keep 'em poor and humble; that seems to be the plan...
I love humanity but some people I can't stand

Humanity's gonna go way out and reach the stars someday
Hope he won't spread that kind of love all across the Milky Way
Cause when we mine their gold and leave 'em sand I can just hear that little green man...
"I love humanity but some people I can't stand"

Preachers keep their hands stuck out for money from the poor
They'll take the shirts right off your backs just to keep your conscience pure
Then they'll drive their big old coup de villes right past my old tin can...
I love humanity but some people I can't stand
