I have faced death many times
seen my brothers and sisters fall
dodge the bullets and bombs
thinking only to be with you again

I have died on the battlefield
as I pulled my own to safety
the sweat burns my eyes
I know I will not survive

Forgive me my love
for I know that I die
yet my voice does utter on my last breath
it mutters your name

I am that disappointment
that solider that does not come home
as you wait
with a smile and flowers in your sweet hands

If you only knew how much I love you
if only you had seen the battlefield
my love you would know
that this is where my life ends, and I go
