Vines are cut and clusters are pulled in. Vats are prepared and the grapes are thrown in. Then dark haired maidens with olive skin, step barefoot into the piles and the dance begins. Up and down they go with their delicate bare feet, their skirts raised high in natures serenade. With laughter and chatter they dance around, crushing the luscious fruit into a mire of pulp. From the white and amber mixtures, the natural juices flow. Into buckets and barrels the mixture goes. From central Italy, to the south ofΒ Β Spain, dark haired maidens dance on the grapes. Following a tradition dating back hundreds of years, they dance with delight each time the grape harvest begins.
