My prayers are for Paris
The city of light
That descended into darkness
One fateful night
Many lives were taken
And that wasn’t right
But they’ll rise again
Like a phoenix in flight

My prayers are for Paris
And all they’ve been through
It was a night
That they’d learn to rue
When they got up that morning
How many knew
It would be their last
Once the cold wind blew

My prayers are for Paris
And the rest of the world
A new kind of evil
Clearly has unfurled
And one group’s hatred
Suddenly can be hurled
At unsuspecting people
Who die bent and curled

My prayers are for Paris
See the day will come
When they’ll smile again
And cease being numb
After they’ve buried their dead
Heard the muffled drum
Joy will come in the morning]
Not just for some
