I just want to be better than the rest,
Never have I wanted to be the very best.
I'd rather go by title United States Marine
Than the man who had only a dream.

I don't want to be a McDonalds employee,
Nor a caretaker for a chimpanzee.
I want to be a machine gunner in the USMC,
I want to help people that I may never meet.

People hate my recruiter
For coming to me,
But I might thank him
For giving me a tree
Of opportunities.

I may not have thought about it much,
But everytime I roll it in my head
I think about who I could defend.
My family, my friends, anybody lying in bed.

I'll get paid to travel around the world
Like I've wanted to for quite a while.
I want out of this mistake for a state
Where people get high and call others fake.
