if love is a language, we're speaking Pig Latin-
in the deafening silence of a box fan in your bedroom
******* in the dark, forgetting how your face looks
so intimate and close,
so far away.

i don't have it in me to love you,
and you wouldn't want your friends finding out,
so that just leaves the two of us
shaking your bed
for fifteen hot minutes
then diverging
to sleep on opposite sides.
