& here I am again tonight

The hours hold no stars in place

Only the policeman has a face

And hunger , too

( and the rain )

//

Somewhere someone knows of me

And a kindness and a touch

Someday I will find my strength

And I will walk these streets forever

And take all children to his shelter

""""

I have heard the poets cry

But I have seen none walk their rounds

Just some words of petty love

and vanity

"""

I saw a free man yesterday

Weeping underneath the bridge

bringing food to all the kids

And begging us to forgive

God and the human race

••

So it is

••

The gentle people gather round

The frightened ones are armed and seeking

Reason to **** the likes of me

And turn the world into a grave

//

So it is but still I strive

To love all people and all life

I don't expect to survive

But it's okay with me

For I shall keep my dignity

I walk the naked night alone

The stars are tumbling , some fall down

I shall weep for a little while

I shall return with holy fire

To keep you safe
