Lobo
The softest, kindest, chocolate eyes,
Stare up at me, from where he lies.
Full of trust and love and pain,
I hold him in my arms, as the rain,
Falls upon him, or maybe its my tears.
I was now living the nightmare of my fears.
The white coat is moving slowly, out of his sight,
Those eyes are still gazing at me, with a shining light.
I see the needle enter, my eyes shimmer and blur,
As I blink back the tears, I clasp tighter to his fur.
As the clarity comes back, I gaze down on my pet,
The light has now gone, the sun has now set.
I want to howl out loud, for my old faithful friend,
I am so pleased I was with you, right to the end.
