a critique... an exposé

~

he is to prose
what twilight is
to coming night.
he, no ordinary cup,
though to this reader
coffee no less loved,
but ’tis far less apropos,
than mulled with wine
at sipping time;
when words begin
to simmer,
slipping slowly,
slightly,
off the tongue;
when evening’s ease
has just begun.
its colors melting
stress away,
like dusk's caress
from heat of day,
his soothing ink
on parchment flows,
like savored sips
of sunset's glow
his ray of hope,
finds its way
through my window,
through my blinds;
strikes and
steals my heart,
his words
like soil finds
seeds that root,
that grow,
that sprout,
that bloom,
to fill this heart,
that is
my reading room,
and bid my entry
once again,
the safety
of a harbor... his,
this place
that renews...
that makes me whole!

*post script.

as my own bio reads,
“mostly i write, to and of, they
who offer this heart safe harbor.“
his step into my heart with this,
his ink on parchment, my soul’s bliss;
my thinly disguised tribute and review of Joe Adomavichia’s published works of his best prose, “A Step Into My Heart”!

look, i’m a guy... you think i’m just gonna come straight out and admit that he got into mine?  now, just go on and buy your own **** copy, because you ain’t gonna borrow mine!

thanks for sharing your heart with the world, Joe!
don’t tell anyone else, but you know i love ya!

She said there are no men
There are no women
Only people
The rose lips were petals that
Moved in the sun bleached wind

No I said
There must be a separation

Yes , your separation I can see now
Is complete

So I see the after Christmas trees
Lying in the alleys
In January

She said there are no men
There are no women
Only trees pretending
To be people
Shedding ***** needles
In the alleys
Lying face down
Cold and covered in frost

Their separation
Now complete
No longer men
No longer women
They've become
Forgotten people

I wonder what your eyes see
That mine don’t
What your mind thinks
That mine won’t

I wonder what your heart feels
That mine can’t
Who your love touches
That mine shan’t

I wonder what your dreams conceive
That mine wouldn’t
And what you will achieve
That I couldn’t

I wonder where your destiny lies
That mine isn't
What your legacy will symbolize
That mine didn't

If I opened my soul
for you to see
Would you still want me?

If I needed a hug
when I was down
Would you turn my frown upside-down?

If I needed a romantic embrace
could I steal a kiss
Would you be mine to miss?

If I needed reassured
would you hold my hand?
Would you help me be a better man?

If I needed to not walk
on this earth alone
Would you give me a place in your heart to call my own?

Would you be mine
after listening to these words I've told
With you by my side
I have no fear of growing old

A man waiting on someone to die
drinks another cup, sighs
and looks at his watch, the face
everyone rememembers
for its twitch and drooping eye,
always running, always losing
a second, an hour, sometimes a day,
a year on the wrist of the dead.

Being realist is delightful
In case you dream for the betterment
