The road is flat
winding itself around the hills
following an unknown path
once laid out by those who came before
twisting around the green, lusheous, fruitful hills
that never seem to end
where does the road lead
when will I get there
yet we follow on
leaving dusty trails to destinations unknown

Like soldiers sneaking upon the enemy
The Dandelions grew thick on the lawn
Painting a sea of yellow amongst the blades of green
Try as they might the tall, yellow stalks bent with ease
As they tried to strangle the life from the young blades
But the low lying grass pushed back
Swarming over the tall lions, pushing them down
As if they were grasshoppers not prepared for a winter storm
The grass thrived

The heart breaks
when through the coals it's been raked
Without any warning s to why
one just got up without any goodbye
I never heard the words through the gentle breezes
That on your shoulder the mood it freezes

And the battles rang
No silence in the heart
Hearing the anguish screams
The soul stood solid
It did not falter

And the battles rang
Around and around
Surrounded by the enemy
Not a light was in sight
The soul stood solid
It did not falter

It was written in the sand
As clear as a pen to paper "I wish I had a friend"
A young girl wrote it with tears on her face
As children laughed and played around her
Yet with all those children
there stood one alone
No one saw her
No one cared
As if she were invisible she walked away
Alone and friendless
My heart goes out to this child
But someday a good friend she'll find
I to have wished for a friend
When all was dark
I to have written it down
In my mind a time or two
But now as time has passed
The notes I write
Are to the lost

The other day I sought you out, I found you hiding in a corner
your arms covering your head.
You looked so small hiding from me
When you heard me coming you ran away
back into the darkness of your shattered life
I call to you as I searched for you, you did not answer me
I found you hiding under a table, so small you made yourself
I saw your tears washing your face, I tried to comfort you
But you dodged my words
Back into hiding you went, deeper into the hole of darkness
Yet I did not stop my search for you
Following you from shadow to shadow
Calling for you as I pursued you
"The pain you carry is not yours alone, let me carry it for you", I cried
You hesitated for just a moment
With baited breath I waited, with a hope you would turn to me
But again you ran from me, But I noticed not as fast
I cried after you, "I know your pain"
Then I saw you yell over your shoulder
Tears streaming down your pain-covered face
"I am ashamed, I have shamed you"
I am not good enough for you, I am scared"
I responded with growing excitement, "Come let me cleanse you"
You have always been and always will be good enough
I love you so much that I gave my life for you
You stopped suddenly in your tracks, and turning around to look at me
"Why so much love for one so small?" you asked
"Because you are not small in my eyes" I replied
You ran to me with outstretched arms

As I sit pondering, at a sight so rare.
With all kinds of pebbles, spread wall to wall there.
Not a speck of sand at all, can be seen here on a beach so rare.
The object of the climb down here, was not to fall.
As waves of white, crash to the site.

One is quite enthralled.
By the power of the might, God has given all the right.
For winds and waves so strong, to set against the pebbles throng.
The smell of salt fills the air, seeing the sights of seaweed is quite fair.
Clouds in the sky just linger over there, barely covering the mountain tops where,
Birds in flight soar below,

Oh!

But where is the eagle grand, How he flies far above the land.
The boats sit moored not far from land, all is here on Pebble Beach sand.
