How does a chrysalis become a butterfly? As you watch it leave your branches, to fly away. You remain still as cold engulfs you, summer fleeing; You remain still like a stoic statue, while your own life decays. All you recall is the warmth of her embrace, And sirens sing through her lips, a sweet hypnosis. You curse your wretched fate, interrogate omnipotent grace. You yearn for the fable that once was your destiny. You wait for her to look back; time pushes her away, You bury your soul in memories that consume you. In remembrance, you find her gaze, her embrace, till grey. You know this is your last goodbye, memories heavy with dew. With hope still burning, you wait for demise; You know you’ll make her immortal through your ashes. There, you will dance until her gaze rises; Together you will live forevermore as time passes.
