3:00am ——— roused from deep sleep dreaming; wander to the deep dark of the sunless sunroom where I write^dream while wide awake, provoked, for the first two poems that I stumble upon address the sea, while the water’s edge so near to me, and yet, the silence of the black night, goes undisturbed by the water’s wave-theology, and when daylight forms, to shore I will go to worship to shore me up with its seductive pattens, the soothing rock ‘n rolling of its quiet awe, it too, barely disturbs the atmospheric environs but transformed and transfixed, ponder deep this ancient spot where brackish river water flows into the Great Atlantic, my spirit carried with it and returned to me in hours by the moon’s tidal gravity, a voyager of a few hours, but always, transformed and transfixed
