Longing
Originates in the body,
Not the brain
Contrary to what the lab rats squeak
With their beady eyes and short vision
It is here, in the heart and belly
And just behind the eyes
At night, in the empty spoon of my back, hips and thighs
In the morning, it is an empty embrace
When too many alone days and nights have passed,
It lies deep and dormant in my womb
And brings tears of frustration
While left to my own devices
Longing
