Instead of "I would **** or die for you," On the sand and desert Of some politician's stupid war, I have learned to do the hard thing. Breathing is startlingly intimate. Consent to breathe with me. I will live for you. Fiercely, unflinchingly, In the mess and filth of being. I will help others live; Together we will learn How best to love.
