Did I see the real you, not this imposter that I thought I knew? Like a movie image that flashed and disappeared, showing the horror awaiting. I saw your pain, your fear, your sorrow, your soul. I saw the tears through laughing eyes. I heard your scream above your laughter. I felt you stiffen when loving arms embraced you. Your confidence gone, fear filled your frame. I saw it. Briefly. But it was there. For now I know you wear a mask. And I will watch over you. I am here. Your friend. Your partner. For you. Always.

Slipped Mask

I saw the tears through laughing eyes. I heard your scream above your laughter. I felt you stiffen when loving arms embraced you. Your confidence gone, fear filled your frame. I saw it. Briefly.
