Your blood connections shouldn't define Those whom you invite for a toast You can't exactly resign But, choose those who matter most Those who you run to for advice And set no expectations those whose words don't just suffice But are found to help in counterfeit situations Their smile won't be the brightest Their comfort goes beyond understanding Always affect in just the slightest But they never are demanding Loving me for who and what I am to be And nowhere near my family tree
