Wrapped up warm and seeping with temper Lies your Christmas gift Under the mistletoe. As your mind pulses with confusion, You trace your receipts Wondering why coal fills your ripped stockings. Your checkbook goes out to supplying yourself with makeup Conceal, repent, repeat. Bruises envelop the surface of your porcelain skin And wounded heart of a veteran. The new year brings hope and courage, You pray to end the repetition. Quit tripping and falling Believing you’re just a clumsy house wife.

"Mistletoe"
