there's something about walls
something about waking up
in the darkness
falling asleep on your back
and waking up on your side
still, in the darkness
and then you turn to your other side
to get off the bed
only to find a wall
where you're expecting air
expecting emptiness
not the sad kind
the spatial type
something about that
something devastating
upsetting
infuriating
frustrating
it's always something
there's already poetry in that
nothing i could write
to make it any more
that what it already is
i suppose that's the thing about walls
